Writing herstory

“artSIStra's mission is to create a community of female artists worldwide who support, encourage and lift each other. I believe that the art world and art history have not given female artists the recognition they deserve, I want to change that.

By highlighting great artworks and interviews on SoMe, from sometimes overlooked artists, talented sisters and strong voices, another type of art will be enjoyed by you, dear art lover.

Furthermore, the artSIStra sisterhood will grow as a movement during the ongoing artist meetings & events, where a selected group from the sisterhood, will be invited to develop new ideas and possibilities on the art scene, and consequently push for equality in the art world together.

The ultimate aim is to achieve greater equality in the art world”.

With a burning desire to change the inequality and percentages on the art scene, and to write a more nuanced art history, Henriette Hellstern formed the artist community artSIStra. A sisterhood for living contemporary female artists who, through the network, inspire, strengthen, lift each other, and in time will be inscribed in art history, through a visualized focus on their unique narrative and art-practice.

Because what is stronger than one woman?

A lot of women.

When you start your artistic career, you become self-employed, in other words, for many hours, days, weeks the artist is alone in the studio, surrounded by their artworks. artSIStra wants to support, listen and move the individual artist and give them a network they can exchange knowledge, gain experience and share their challenges with. This is done through ongoing meetings, trips and honest supporting dialogue.

Together we become stronger.

The world is mainly built by men, now the artSIStra group is here because everyone has deserved to be mirrored in contemporary art, which is best done by different types of artists, with different views of our world, our time and our ways in life. The artSIStra group is elastic and it is therefore a desire that the unity will spread like rings in the water.

artSIStra's business partners will basically be female actors to support other sisters in different industries. But in time, when artSIStra has succeeded in creating a balance in the art industry, the art brothers will be included on an equal footing.

Two-thirds of the works of art purchased for museums in Denmark are created by men. As a result, the reflection of society is not equal, and future generations get a false impression of the history of art in our time. But now artSIStra is here to write a more equal art history, so new artworks can be enjoyed worldwide by people in everyday life, one of artSIStra's main purposes.

Stay informed here and on Instagram and Facebook, where I in the near future will lift the veil on the upcoming actions. In the meantime, dear art lover, take a look at your walls, and check if your collection reflects the world we live in?

Thank you for your time and support.
